ACL Ligament Reconstruction Surgery
Arthroscopy is nowadays has become a very popular surgery to deal with many knee and shoulder problems. Arthroscopic surgery is a keyhole surgery that allows early and painless recovery. In Arthroscopy we usually perform surgeries with the help of a camera that gives a visualization of the whole joint and from another portal we perform surgeries. Acl is a ligament that gives stability to our knee joints. It usually turns during twisting injuries, motorcycle accidents, and sports activities. Acl tear produces immediate pain and swelling that settles with time but produces laxity or instability of the knee joint. This instability if not dealt with appropriately may lead to damage to our washers and protective cartilage of our knee joints. MRI is the investigation of choice to diagnose the ACL ligament tear. Arthroscopic ACL ligament reconstruction is done to make the knee joint stable. After reconstruction, the patient is allowed to walk the next day with support for some time. After 6 weeks patient regains the full strength of his knee joint. Many patients usually return to or their prior activity level within 3 months.
