Total Hip Replacement Surgery
The hip joint is a ball and socket joint where the ball moves within the socket to produce movements at the hip joint. Due to arthritis that may occur because of many reasons like AVN hip, trauma, fracture, infection (Tuberculosis), etc. After setting of arthritis hip joint becomes quite painful and patients usually have to take medicines to relieve the pain. Medicines relieve the pain temporarily and affect other organs like the liver and kidney. So in such scenarios, we need to replace the damaged joint with an artificial hip prosthesis that includes a ball and socket if we are doing total hip replacement or only ball in a few conditions(very old age patients)where we are doing Hemi replacement or partial replacement. Due to advancements in technology and instrumentation hip joint last for many years especially ceramic on poly. We prefer these bearings or hip joints in young patients so that they last for more than 20 years.
